“The cafes are unitive.” 500 establishments under test.

Consuming alcohol, tobacco or playing games can provide a pleasant sensation. However, certain persons overrun the reasonable limits and become compulsive. They jeopardize therefore their health, balance and welfare of their close friends/family.

Within your café, we can support you to live these moments of leisure and pleasure, without compulsion, in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Your café engages in the prevention and support of addict consumers

Aware of the problems induced by compulsive behavior, cafés that adhere to ADCTEL quality label take part in a very wide program of prevention, support, listening and advice, available all over France.

If you already had the feeling of not being able to suppress impulses or if one of your close friends/relatives faces addiction problems do not hesitate to learn and speak about that within discussion spaces put at your disposal on the ADICTEL website. You will be listened to, supported and, if you want, connected to one of our representatives, with complete confidentiality.

Three key tips in order not to change pleasure into an inconvenience

Limit your alcohol consumption if you have to drive a vehicle or exercise a professional activity in the following hours.

Do not smoke in public spaces outside place provided for that and ensure no child or pregnant woman risks being uncomfortable because of your smoke

Never gamble to win whatever it takes, and never stake money planned to meet the needs of your family.

Gambling

Addiction to games is defined by an unadapted, persistent and repeated game practice. Pleasure to gamble is therefore transformed into an imperious need to gamble and this at the expense of serious consequences for the gambler and his entourage.

Gabling becomes then the unique preoccupation of the subject; he completely loses control and eventually lapses into addiction.

Consequences are really and often destructive and generate different problems in the subject life: financial (debt), family (conflict, divorce...), social (isolation, marginalization), professional (job loss, absenteeism...), psychological (depression, suicide, stress ...), physical (insomnia, loss of appetite, stomach ulcer...).

Video games

Video games: Just like games of chance and gambling games, video games can be addictive. Video games are part of these new addictions called “Drug Free Addiction” or “behavioral addiction.”

We shall speak about video game addiction, either on console, or on computer, at home or at the game room, while game becomes the main, unique center of a person’s interest.

This is a so called physical addiction characterized by an overwhelming desire to play, and which causes real disruption of the functioning of the subject on an intellectual, relational, professional, academic, emotional level... therefore, the gambler will have at the same time the tendency to abandon its activities for the benefit of the game. There is then a real withdrawal, which is characteristic of addicted gamblers.

Cyber addiction
The Cyber addiction is an addiction to Internet, concerning both information and network games and instant messages (IM). The cyber addiction is part of the new addictions called “Drug Free Addiction.”

It is a psychological dependence that leads to self-neglect, neglect of someone’s appearance, loss of sense of time, a de-socialization, sleep disturbances, impaired attention (at work, studies ... ). It results in a constant and insistent desire such an obsession to play, surf, communicate…

Alcohol

Alcoholism is considered a chronic disease that develops gradually. The alcoholic subject will lose all control as to his alcohol consumption and over his drinking and the need to drink will then become unstoppable. The subject will therefore engage in alcohol, despite adverse consequences that excessive consumption can cause over his major social, emotional, professional life, family and health.

The alcohol addiction is therefore: “a subjection to the taking of alcoholic beverages whose removal creates psychological discomfort and / or physical disabilities.”

Tobacco

Long denied as an addictive substance, tobacco is now considered responsible for one of the most intense forms of addiction. This is a real-counter drug. The main substance responsible for tobacco addiction is nicotine. It is the action of nicotine on the brain that causes physical addiction (lack of sensation in the absence of consumption of the product, withdrawal symptoms: irritability, fatigue, headache, trouble sleeping. ..) but also a psychological addiction related directly to certain situations such as stress, loneliness, pleasure, fear ...

If the action of nicotine is as intense as that of heroin or morphine, it does not generate euphoric, depressed or sleepy conditions, or even hallucinations. Tobacco addiction, therefore, does not disturb the social, professional, family life ... The consequences are much more insidious.

In conclusion, we speak of addiction to tobacco when there is an urge to consume, despite the deleterious effects of smoking.
